Welcome to the Johannesburg Light Plane Club

Welcome to the Johannesburg Light Plane Club – the oldest continually active flying club in the world! We have been in continuous operation since 1926.

The club is based at Baragwanath Airfield, south west of Johannesburg where flying continues in the tradition of the old Baragwanath Airfield (1919-1981) where enthusiasm, common sense and safety-conscious fun prevail.

We have an environment that is attractive and mutually supportive of all South African amateur aviators and to make flying more accessible for everyone, we do not charge landing fees or service fees. We welcome enthusiasts and their families, both young and old.
