Pictures: 1940 – 1949

Johannesburg Light Plane Club members resumed flying at Baragwanath on June 8. Unfortunately, the Defence authorities have not yet fully handed over, and though the club’s other aircraft will be available shortly, there were only three machines in the air that day. The upper picture shows the fine clubhouse. Below: Mr. J. Kelly, the club’s instructor, looks towards the runway where so many famous airmen have trained and which before long will again be one of South Africa’s most active aerodromes.
